An Adventure

One sunny morning in summer I left my sister'shouse and went for a walk along a hilly path. It wasa warm day and there was no one on the path. Atthe end of the path I was ting down to rest when abig black dote suddenly appeared. It ran up to mebarking and lay down at me. I touched its head. When I started to walk home，it followed meand it would not go away. It had a collar round its neck but there was no name on the collar. When I got home，I rang up the nearest police station. I told the police that I had found a bigblack dog. I said that I would keep it until its owner called for it. I gave the police my name andaddress. Two days later an old gentleman came to my home to ask about the dog. He said hehad lost his dog because it hated riding in cars. It lumped out of the open window of his car. Heoffered me ten dollars，but I did not take the money. Then he gave me his name and addressand invited me to visit him.

The trees are bare. Bitter north winds have stripped them of all their leaves. But since wintercomes, spring won't be far away.
