1、threaten /ˈθretn/

threaten是常见动词，主要有两个意思。第一，作及物动词，意为“威胁，恐吓”或者”威胁到或危害到…”;第二，意为“预示着，可能发生”，一般是指不好的事。

They threatened the shopkeeper with a gun.

他们用枪威胁店主。

He threatened to take them to court.

Changing patterns of agriculture are threatening the countryside.

The glass industry still thrives there.

6、throne /θrəʊn/

throne是名词，指君主的“宝座，王座”，通常用the throne 代指“王位，王权”。非常著名的一部美剧《权力的游戏》英文名就是Game of Thrones。

Elizabeth II came to the throne when her father died.

Queen Victoria was on the throne at that time.

7、throw /θrəʊ/

throw是常见动词，基本义为“扔，掷，跑”，掌握这个意思，其他意思在例句中都很容易理解。

8、thrust /θrʌst/

thrust作名词和动词都可以，意为“猛推，挤”或者“刺，戳”。

He jumped back to avoid another thrust of the knife.

9、thumb /θʌm/

thumb作名词，指“大拇指”，通常用在一些短语中，thumb也可作动词，指“在路边竖起大拇指搭便车”。

She still sucks her thumb when she's worried.

He was still under his father’s thumb.

他仍受制于他的父亲。

He had thumbed all across Europe.

10、thunder /ˈθʌndə/

thunder作名词，意为“雷声”或者“雷鸣般的声音”，也可作动词，意为“打雷，发出雷鸣般地声音”。

The windows were shaken by a tremendous crash of thunder.

窗子被一声巨大的雷声所震动。

The sky grew dark and it started to thunder.

天色变暗，开始打雷了。

The train thundered past, shaking the whole house.

火车轰隆隆驶过，整座房子都晃动起来。
